The Falcons class is designed for children who will turn five by the end of December. This program focuses on preparing children for kindergarten while adhering to the Earthplace Preschool Philosophy of Education.

The Falcons' curriculum focuses on the whole child and includes both child-selected and teacher-directed activities that are planned to encourage the development of each child's physical, cognitive, creative, social, and personal development. A special emphasis is placed on literacy, math, and problem solving.  In the Falcons class exclusively, we use the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop model for early literacy experiences.  We also plan math experiences to be compatible with the Singapore Math method that is used in the Westport public schools.  For example, children learn about "number bonds" and "ways to make 10."

All of Earthplace's resources are utilized, including the indoor and outdoor animal collection, the hiking trails, Natureplace, and the wooden playground. The class participates in the weekly animal visits to the classroom, and the bi-monthly gym and music programs.

The capacity for the class is 12 children.

The program runs from 8:45 am to 1:00 pm. Families may also choose to sign their children up for an extended day in our Preschool After School Enrichment Program (PASEP) until either 3:00 pm or 6:00 pm for an additional fee.
